High Performance Computing Resources

The Penn State High Performance Computing (HPC) group, part of the PSU Research Computing and Infrastructure group, maintains and supports the use of over 5000 processors on a series of Linux clusters as part of the Universities Graduate Education and Research Services group. HPC is part of the Coalition of Academic Supercomputing Centers. Dedicated access of the Zhang group to previously purchased computational resources managed by the HPC group as well as shared access to all HPC resources are available to students on the proposed project. Aside from access to these computing resources, the student completing their graduate research as part of this project will have access to the support services of the HPC group. Staff members provide support and expertise for research using programming languages, numerical libraries, statistical packages, finite element solvers, and specialized software for computational biology, chemistry, fluid mechanics and other disciplines.
