The Shi Group will tackle fundamental challenges in renewable energy storage and conversion by innovation of materials. We will combine interdisciplinary expertise in electrochemistry, surface chemistry, material science and mechanical engineering for a thorough understanding of the structure-property relationships. We will employ a suite of tools including metallurgical characterization, mechanical measurement, surface sensitive techniques, as well as synchrotron characterization to probe material structure and property, for the innovation of renewable energy storage, conversion and medical devices.
